Itamar Doari with the best of Spanish Flamenco in a sacred performance that was all beat, passion and soul

In southern Spain, Flamenco is a religion filled with rhythm, passion and beauty. It even has a Holy Trinity— vocals, dance and guitar (cante, baile y guitarra ). Israeli percussionist Itamar Doari brought this religion to the capital of the world’s religions with a special performance created on the seam line that connects Jerusalem in the east to Seville in the far west.

This performance was produced by Doari together with three of Spain’s most renowned Flamenco artists — José Quevedo 'Bolita', Rafael de Utrera and Paquito Gonzalez — and two Israeli musicians — Shai Maestro and Aviv Bachar— who have played together several times in Israel and in Spain, creating a show which is both intimate and majestic at the same time.

The name of the performance unites souls (Atma in Sanskrit) with the wadi (originally an Arabic word that found its way to Spain via Andalusia) in a way that describes, in the best possible way, the meeting on stage: The Valley of the Souls.

Doari is considered a percussion genius. Starting out as a member of the Idan Raichel Project, he has performed with Berry Sakharof, Eviatar Banai and Yemen Blues and built, by himself, a set of percussion drums that he uses in performances with bassist Avishai Cohen. Over the last few years he has gained a reputation as one of the great percusion players in Israel and abroad.
