The black soul of the blues rises up from the moat

Corey Harris, who started out as a street singer in New Orleans, came to the moat at sundown for a solo performance in which he added his own personal touch to the classic Blues. Armed with a guitar and a deep, soulful voice, he performed the American Blues canon alongside his own songs, influenced by reggae, soul, rock and West African music.

Harris, who has played with the likes of B.B. King, Tracy Chapman, and Wilco among others, was also the lead vocalist in the Martin Scorsese series Feel Like Going Home (2007) which documents the development of the Blues from its origins in West Africa through to its advent in the American South.

Harris’ performance opened with Dani Dorchin - One Man Band, for real.
