Sefer Yetzirah takes us back to the dawn of humanity, to the creation of the world and man, to the moment when it all began, to the source of Kabbalistic teachings. Piris Eliyahu’s new composition, “For All Eternity,” was inspired by a combination of ancient Jewish mysticism that dates back to Abraham, and relates to fundamental questions of humanity. Out of 12 possible options taken from classical Eastern music, Eliyahu chose the Rast Maqam (a traditional oriental score) for this piece, as it conveys a sense of authenticity, optimism and spirituality, and the work as a whole, which is based on the principles of classical Eastern music, also moves easily into the realms of fantasy and contemporary music.

The piece was composed especially for the New Jerusalem Orchestra Ensemble, a 10-piece ensemble that produces a broad, rich and liberated sound, based on the musical aesthetics of classical Middle Eastern music, but one that is equally at home with a wide range of musical styles.
